Ok, so you had it coming, eventually! This one maybe should have been my first blog post, but I didn't want to be too obvious! Jimi Hendrix, (who needs no introduction) is probably the most influential electric guitarist of all time. His unique technique and musicality that went along with his guitar playing, singing and songwriting, was nothing short of genius.

The fact that he is mixed race or of black origin also adds something new to the zeitgeist, as he was the first iconic guitarist of colour to get popular mass appeal. So in this sense, he led the way for others. But, over the years Jimi Hendrix's popularity and legend has grown and grown and the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame describes him as the 'greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music'.

Jimi has used other guitars, but the guitar he is best known for using is the Fender Stratocaster. Jimi actually made this guitar popular again after a slump in sales in the mid 1960s.

The Stratocaster below is a more modern version of the one on Jimi used. Its a 1991 Strat Plus Deluxe. (I used to own this very one) It features 'Lace Sensor' noiseless single coil pickups, unlike Fender's standard single coil pickups.

Learn the electric guitar and you can't help but be influenced by Jimi Hendrix, wether you like it or not!
