Many people think that Les Paul is a guitar. Well, it is, but what many people don't know is that Les Paul is also an innovating guitarist, innovator in recording techniques and recording artist. He is not surprisingly the creator of the Gibson Les Paul guitar.

He is also one of the only people to be included in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Les was using various recording techniques way before anyone was using them in popular music. His most succesful recording career releases were jazz influenced

ree

with his singing wife Mary Ford, where he used tape delay and overdubbing. He also sped up his guitar playing on recordings to make it sound faster than it was played, creating some very tricky (and higher pitched) sounding guitar playing indeed!

Hats off to Les Paul. An innovator in sound, technique and technology!

Pictured above is a Les Paul Custom in unusual Silverburst colour. This is a guitar that I previously owned. This particular model is a beautiful looking instrument. It had a very thick and wide neck, which I didn't really get on with too well, hence why I sold it. Les Paul Customs play like 'butter". Very easy to play and also pretty heavy, despite the sound chambers!
