How To Get A Good Guitar Tone

So, this is a question I sometimes get asked.
How do I get a good guitar tone? In a nutshell, as the guitar is a mid frequency instrument, so the best way is to set the tone controls to around mid or 5. This way if you are playing along with a backing track or jamming with others, your guitar should sit well in the mix.
If you are playing on your own, without accompaniment, then start the tone controls from 1, then work your way upwards with each knob (bass, mid, treble) and listen for the tone that you like. But, as a general rule, set your tone controls to about half way and you should be pretty close to getting the right level. Volume wise, think about your neighbours and what you can get away with!
