Did you know that the Fender Jazzmaster was originally designed as the successor to the world's most famous guitar the Stratocaster? Playing the Jazzmaster is quite different to the Strat and ironically it has rarely been used to play Jazz music!

Above is my custom made Jazzmaster by Rexter Guitars next to my Fender Mustang bass.
The Jazzmaster (an offset shaped guitar) was used in the 1960s mainly by surf guitar bands. It never took off like the Stratocaster and was used by indie guitar bands in the 1980s and 1990s that couldn't afford a Strat. These days, however the Jazzmaster is hip again with many different bands using this very cool guitar from heavy rock to funk and indie music. It's sister model, the Jaguar is also available.
Next time you are in a guitar shop, why not try playing some different guitars and see which you like best.
